What Is Boxing?
Boxing is a combat sport in which two people, usually wearing protective gloves and other protective equipment such as headgear, engage in a contest of strength, speed, reflexes, endurance, and skill. The objective is to land punches on the opponent and avoid their punches to score points or achieve a knockout, where the opponent is unable to continue the fight.
What Can I Expect My First Class?
What you can expect includes a warmup to get your body prepared for the physical activity ahead. You'll be introduced to fundamental boxing techniques such as your stance, footwork, and basic punches. You may engage in shadow boxing which is practicing your moves without a partner. Sometimes in our classes you will pair up with a partner and practice drills that could include punches, defensive drills, and combinations. You'll also have the opportunity to practice your punches and combinations on our heavy bags and speed bags. You will work on conditioning exercises to build strength, endurance, and agility. This may include bodyweight workouts, core workouts, and other fitness drills. Remember to bring comfortable workout attire, hand wraps, and gloves if you have them. If you don't, then we can provide them until you buy a pair.
Do I Need Experience Before Starting?
No! You don't need prior experience to start boxing. Our instructors are accustomed to teaching individuals who are new to the sport. Boxing is a skill that is learned and developed over time, so everyone has to start somewhere! Our gym is patient and understanding with newcomers and will guide you through the basics. You will also gradually progress and start feeling more comfortable and skilled. Our workouts can also be adapted to all fitness levels to suit your needs.

What Is Sparring?
Sparring in boxing refers to the practice of engaging in controlled, simulated combat with a training partner. It is a crucial component of a boxer's training regimen and provides an opportunity for fighters to apply their skills in a more dynamic and realistic setting. Boxers wear protective gear, including headgear and mouthguards, to minimize the risk of injury. Additionally, the supervision of experienced trainers ensures that sparring sessions are conducted in a controlled and constructive manner.
